In this short lesson, we will watch the "The Fog of War" section on the firebombing of Japan in the spring and summer, 1945.
We will read the handout "The Manhattan Project" and discuss President Truman's options and the pros and cons of each.
Reference will be made to the academic paper, "Truman's Dilemma," by I. Kingsbury, from the Tufts Historical Journal.
We will watch the first 12:30 minutes of Atomic Café (1982).
